The Hotel Humano is the sixteenth estate of Grupo Habita in Mexico and third in this general area. The first Hotel Escondido, which made sixteen huts on a beautiful beach route in 2019 about 45 minutes south of Puerto Escondido. The second Hotel Terrestre followed three years later-a 14-villa jewel, which was embedded in the jungle and designed by the renowned Mexican architect Alberto Kalach from the larger de-arquitecture. The addition of the Humano with 39 rooms. Bop from a Grupo Haos ownership to the other and experience the beach, jungle and city.

“We wanted to work [Hotel Humano] For Mexico and the local materiality, ”remarked Carlos Couturier, co-founder of Grupo Habita, who monitors all design, architecture and creative teams for all their properties. “Built with local materials and regional craftsmen, but also global, social and sexy.” His team guessed the Mexican architect Jorge Hernandez de la Garza to design a number of buildings – airy brutalist structures with a predominantly brick facade that “reflect the loose and relaxed spirit of the area”. As with many Grupo -Habita properties, the materials were kept simple, honest and natural: concrete, clay tiles and bricks and tropical forests.

Couturier, who seems to be pleased to discover aspiring design talents, discovered the company, which would ultimately work in Madrid on the hotel's interiors. A few new places noticed there – a Veja -sneaker shop, an interesting café, a certain restaurant and a specific bar – and it turned out that they were all designed by the same company: Planta Estudio. The company was founded in 2008 by the brothers Luis and Lorenzo Gil and had never designed a hotel or anything outside their home panels and the headmaster was still in Mexico. Couturier didn't seem to be gradually. “We thought they could bring a European flair to an authentic Mexican place,” he said. (Note: Humano was also the first hotel project for architects, graphic designers and music designers.)

“It was an unknown culture and a country for us and also an unknown program. So it was a challenge, ”recalled Luis Gil. Couturier commissioned them to deliver rooms and public spaces that felt simple, original, durable, but also comfortable and cozy. Rooms that agree well and address the local community, which is very diverse, with free -minded people who love nature, surfing and calm sunsets, but also want a nice dinner. “Planta Estudio suggested” innovative surfer huts from hotel rooms full of light with private gardens or terraces “.

Gil noticed that the company's strategy was to “be close to traditional culture and traditional materials and the atmosphere of Mexico, but with a new point of view. Our vision of Mexico as an outsider. “The team visited Mexico twice for the project over the course of the year. “We loved it there,” he said. “We felt at home, very connected to the ambience and culture.” Planta Estudio pursued the opposite approach from those who want to create rooms who have the feeling that they were always part of the proverbial landscape. “We tried not to do that. We tried to do something new, but connected to the spirit of the place. “

They also aimed to warm up brutalist architecture, mainly through color: textiles and quilts in deep orange and burgundy and craftsmanship tiles throughout the property, also in a shadow of Burgundy, which was produced locally by San Pedro Ceramics. (All furnishings were also created locally, especially by Javier Gomez, especially screens, doors and furniture).

The result, says Couturier, is a hotel with “a completely different atmosphere of our two other hotels in the area. It's like the cool brother in the family – the one with tattoos who surfs, goes barefoot and relaxes. “
