If you consider the essentials of a living room, it goes without saying that you actually have to use the room. A sofa is of course a must and probably the first object to which your spirit has hiked. A television probably fought for this top position, followed by a table where they hold their snacks during the fist space and stream. But did you happen to consider a carpet in this exercise? As it turns out, it should probably be higher on the list than you may have imagined first.
“Carpets have more weight – emotionally and visually – than people expect,” says Katherine Boone, director of design at Corador. “The color can be difficult because it affects the entire atmosphere of the room. Many people play it safe or try to fit everything that actually feels more relaxed than more relaxed.”
To learn how to do this important detail right, we designers asked their best tips and tricks for choosing the perfect color for living room carpets. They said the following.
The trick for choosing the right living room color for living room carpets
There is no uniquely best living room carpet color. However, designers say that this will help you consider the right choice for your room every time: Think about how you want to feel in your living room.
“Color is not only visual – it's emotional,” says Boone. “Ask yourself: How do I want this space to feel comfortable, calm, ground? Then go for tonal, earthy colors. Energy or expressive? Try a carpet with a richer or unexpected color that still plays well with your room.”
As soon as you have found out how the feeling you want to promote in your living room can be improved by your color palette, use these descriptions as key words to start shopping. If you have limited your options but still cannot decide, Malorie Goldberg, a partner of Noa Blake Design, has to share this accompanying trick.
“Order patterns,” she says. “Always order color fields so that you can look at them in your living room. This is a great way to get a gut feeling about what will be right or wrong with the other elements.”
Goldberg also notes that the search for carpets can often be equipped with a lot of sticker shock because they are an investment. However, this should not urge you to choose the most basic option to avoid a steep price. “A carpet is integral and often one of the few pieces that can tie everything together,” says Goldberg. So if you find the perfect option, the price almost always pays off.
A cheat leaf for the decision of the right carpet selection
Sometimes it is difficult to determine how your living room should feel, especially if you have a limited budget and the room has to fulfill more than one purpose. It can also be difficult to meet your emotions with a worthwhile investment. Boone and Goldberg have answers to three frequent questions to help them understand their feelings in the region carpets for a living room.
Should a carpet add or contrast the rest of the room?
“A complementary carpet can create a calm, coherent feeling, while a contrasting case can introduce a personality and a feeling of deliberate stratification,” says Boone. “I tend to bend with a little surprise towards harmony-etwas that connects the elements in the room without being on my nose.”
Should a carpet adjust the wall color of a living room?
“The key here is to really consider the undertone of a carpet,” says Goldberg. “Carpets tend to be neutral, which means that they are a variation of white, off-white or gray, and they can be the most difficult colors to get properly because they are most affected. Start to respect the overall tones in your living room. If you get the lower tones correctly, the carpet will feel like a good fit.
Should I pay attention to accessories when choosing a carpet?
“Accessories are often where people express their personality through books, ceramics, pillows and art,” says Boone. “If your carpet speaks subtly to these parts, it helps the space to feel layered and lived. He does not have to match, but he should speak the same language-even if he is in a different accent.”
