The dossi hydropower plant

The Dossi hydropower plant is located in the district of the same name in Valbondion, a municipality in the upper Seriana valley in the province of Bergamo (in the Lombardy region in northern Italy). The power plant is to be added to both water that is stored in the dams of the Barbard and the Valmorta, as well as water that is made directly from streams that are caused to flow from nearby catchment areas via a system of channels and pipelines.

The water drives in foundations that can withstand very high pressure from a height of 1810 meters to the level of the power plant at an altitude of 850 meters and reaches the engine compartment of the hydropower plant.

The power plant, built in the 1920s, is an articulated stone complex with large rectangular lattice windows, wrought -iron lamps and a roof inspired by the triangular gable of a Greek temple. In addition, there are standards and some apartments that were originally intended for the staff of the work.

From 1943 the system operated with six units (one unit consists of a turbine that converts water energy into a gyrational movement, and from a alternator that converts the movement into electricity). In 2008 the work was renovated and only two groups were installed instead of the previous six, but with higher performance.
