The chair, armchair and lounge versions of Griant in Milan

CMP design, the Italian studio, which is known for combining stories to form functional forms, has spent two decades combining design stories that connect the object and location. During the Milan Design Week 2025, Michele Cazzaniga, Simone Mandelli and Antonio Pagliarulo Presented Griante A collection of woven chairs, armchairs and lounges, which celebrates the twenty years of pedal, celebration of his wooden department, with the past and the present woven together. Where the interior elegance flirts with ease outdoors, which Italian furniture company Add a portfolio of deeply rooted specialist knowledge in Italian craft, industrial precision and a passion for the creation of design pieces that bind tradition and contemporary life.

'Traditionally, woven chairs are made directly on the finished and painted frame by direct weaving. In the Griant project, we made this process industrially produced by having separated the bare structural components from the separation of “separated”. ' You tell design boom. 'The manual process remains essentially the same: the Weaver ensures the same care when working with a disassembled frame, but it is more practical and more comfortable than treating with a fully assembled chair. The idea of deconstructing the woven chair came from the close observation of the work of the weaver and the understanding of the practical aspects of wood production in pedali.

The 5 × 5 belts of the hand -woven seat and the backrest

Griant is an allusion to Pedalis Philosophy and provides the idea of woven seats again and overwhelmed traditional craft with precise industrial production. The defining feature is its soft, hand -woven seat and the backrest, which is made in Italy from fully recyclable polypropylene yarn straps. These belts are not only practical; They offer a three -dimensional texture that is divided into five tubular sectors and can adapt with minimal variations that can cover the entire surface. The natural pallets such as the shadows of brown, beige, green, anthracite gray and a pale sea blau only increase the way the light hits the pattern and bring a soft but clear concept of the surface.

'The aluminum frames of the seat and backrest are covered with a fabric that consists of a mono-material, recyclable polypropylene yellow girdle. The selected polypropylene yarn offers excellent sunlight resistance and keeps its color unchanged even after many seasons of exposure outdoors. It also has an excellent durability against atmospheric means and an slightly structured, irregular feeling that diffuses light and gives it a matt, pleasant finish. In addition, the band designed by us is divided into five soft, tube -shaped sections, with which it can easily adapt to changes in shape and wraps. ' Describes CMP design.

The outdoor version has a wooden chair that is made for open-air rooms with Iroko wood, which is wearing the warmth of sun-stacked wood and is treated with weatherproof and oil. For the interiors, a favorite of the CMP design, Griant is presented in bleached ash wood and the same honest materials and tactile, woven surfaces are retained. This lighter color brings polished sensitivity to the dining room and lounges. Both are FSC® C114358 certified and support the responsible forestry. Cylindrical rotated legs, oval armrests rejuvenate where they hit the back legs, and discrete aluminum support are thoughtful details that bring the Griant Modest silhouette into somewhat quietly refined.

'The Griant project was designed from the start as an outdoor chair, which resulted from a research result that we started with Guinea, where we examined the possibilities of creating seating outdoors with wood components. In contrast to Guinea, Griant is made entirely of wood, with the seat and backrest In aluminum hand -woven with polypropylene yellow girdle. Of course, this leads to light, weatherproof, rustproof elements that are also suitable for sea environments. ' explains the design studio.'The light tone of ash wood, combined with the natural, lively irregularities of Iroko, alleviates the formal strict, which defines both the shape of the chair and the woven pattern. It connects us again with something old and universal that took part in cultures. There is a special pleasure in touching wood – a feeling of completeness that does not require decoration or technical virtuosity. Woodworking is simple and minimal: cylindrical turned legs and an elliptical section armrest, soft in its reluctance. '
