Morgan Sindall Construction has started renovation work in the Princess Royal Theater in Port Talbot. The theater that has been connected to the city Civic Center has been high for 40 years, and the new plans will rejuvenate the venue to make it suitable for the needs of an audience of the 21st century.

Morgan Sindall was appointed the project of the Neath Port Talbot Council via the framework of South West Wales and carries out the restoration of 16.9 million GBP as part of the major plans of the council to revive the city center. The updates aim to attract a larger selection of files for the performance in the theater and create a lively center of activities and services. The project is on the right track in autumn 2026.

This project is financed by the British Government Fund (Luf) of the British government, an initiative that aims to invest in the local infrastructure that has visible effects on the communities and its local economy.

Work includes striping the building in cash brick and the conversion of the room for improved customer flow and accessibility. In order to achieve this, Morgan Sindall offers accessible seats on the upper level and front seats and extend the front of the main foyer of the theater into an atrium, creating a flourishing stroke that meets the needs of theater baths on arrival. There will also be an expansion of the toilets, a new elevator for access to the wheelchair user, and the bar will be moved to the atrium instead of the Auditorium Theater.

At the moment, the actors cannot travel between stage wings without stairs, which has a fundamental effect on the types of performance that can take place. In order to overcome this, Morgan is expanding the back of the theater by up to three meters so that the actors can move discreetly behind the landscape to access the opposite wing. In addition, designs include an elevator for transporting landscapes from the parking lot to the stage, which help to set up the stage without wearing large props over outdoor levels.

As part of the renovation of the Princess Royal Theater, the Tier One operator also performs outdoor works. Morgan Sindall plans to create a small amphitheater and remove the existing well of the location, whereby the outdoor events in the ancient Greek entertainment can be inspired so that outdoor events can take place in warmer months. In addition, the team replaces selected paving with earthen gardens and introduces more greens so that visitors can create a more varied place for visitors.

In order to maintain the extensive legacy of the theater throughout the renovation, Morgan are available for existing materials such as the masonry of the building recycled and repair, the bricks with the bricks being built smaller walls inside. In addition, the team replaces the original White OAK stage with a more suitable, one inch thick, black-painted stage and pays homage to the original stage by reusing it as an internal feature. Morgan is also preserved the wood on the balcony and on the main walls to maintain the historical feeling of theater.

In accordance with the commitment of Morgan Sindall for sustainability, the plans include the installation of green roofs on each side of the new extension building in order to introduce more biological diversity. And in order to record and filter all rainwater surpluses, the team installs earthenarges and not only promotes the groundwater charging, but also reduces the pollution.

Throughout the work, Morgan Sindall plans to work with a local supply chain and workforce that live within 40 miles from theater and use the students for jobs for work in order to achieve a positive social influence in the community.

In order to minimize the disturbance of the nearby companies, the project team enables public work to enable access to the city and ensure that the parking lot remains possible during the restoration.
