Provo, Utah (Kutv) – There will be a large building on a strongly traded bridge shortly.
“It definitely takes some construction work. There are definitely some potholes that have to be repaired,” said Shelby Finch, who works near the University Avenue Bridge in 600 South in Provo.
According to the Ministry of Transport at Utah, the bridge is about 60 years old. Wyatt Woolley, a Udot spokesman, said the department has big plans to not only replace the bridge, but to redesign it.
“It will be a bit wider, so you have bike paths on both sides, also a nice wide sidewalk, and there will be walls on both sides with fences and things to make things safer.
The project has a price of around 70 million US dollars – most of them are federal financing.

Udot plans to start work in June and warned the drivers that this will lead to an overload.
“The bridge remains open, but only one trace in every direction,” said Woolley, “we encourage everyone to use alternative routes,” said Udot. The driving lock closure could lend people about 30 minutes to the pendulum traffic of the people.
Despite the expected traffic head pain, some of the provo residents are happy about the bridge replacement.
“I think that's a great idea. It would not only help vehicle transport, but also people who go.
“I think that's a great plan. I mean the bike track, I don't necessarily know if this is necessary, but everything else sounds great,” added Finch.
If everything is said and done, Udot hopes to have completed this building by 2027.
