UK Landscapes is a customer of the business reporter
UK Landscapes was founded in 1997 by Andrew Preston and has more than 25 years of experience in high -quality landscape solutions throughout the UK. Andrew's entrepreneurial vision was to challenge industry status quo by proving that with effective management and a directly used workforce the landscape maintenance could be consistently and a high standard could be delivered. This vision quickly became reality.
A family business that is rooted in innovation
The early success of the company attracted several national retailers who applied for the same quality and consistency. It became a real family business when Andrew's son Leigh came to a managing director in 2000. His daughter Talia later took on the role of the commercial director.
The Philosophy of the Preston family was simple but future -oriented: Use the technology to create a transparent, accountable service that is offered by a directly employed workforce.
To support this, the British landscapes of Siteops developed a internal management portal that offers customers the full visibility of the service provision. His outstanding feature: a self -examination system that monitors the quality in a national real estate portfolio and ensures quality.
Growth, diversification and a strong culture
By 2014, the British landscapes changed over £ 10 million, concluded contracts with four of the six best national retailers and employed around 120 employees – all highly qualified and deeply invested in the company's family ethos. This culture promoted administration, property and pride on every level.
Leigh Preston's ambitions were to expand beyond retail and bring the company's People-First culture and the software-oriented approach to new markets. The first step was to the water supply sector, where the team successfully secured large contracts – including the maintenance of landscapes around reservoirs and treatment plants to support some of the largest metropolitan areas.
UK Landscapes continued to diversify and increased its sales revenues from 1 million GBP to 4 million GBP in a short time and managed increasingly complex landscaping projects.
Resilience, transition and new investments
The company has proven its resilience through industry and economic challenges and has built up a call for reliability and excellence. As a dynamic, Leigh recognized that British landscapes needed new investments to take the next big step. In 2021, the company worked together with Mercia Asset Management PLC, a private equity investor, and welcomed Martin Donnachie as chairman. This marked a significant development for the company and saved its basic values.
UK Landscapes is now a business of 22 million GBP (forecast 2025), with over 220 employees generating services nationwide. The company focuses on three core columns: maintenance, winter services and project services. These are supported by data -guided decision -making and ongoing investments in technology, leadership and talent development. The company is still obliged to keep its family business culture, are embedded in property, obligation and enjoyment.
A sustainable future
Environmental sustainability is of central importance today for the business activity of the company. The management team only uses electric vehicles, and the headquarters are solar, with plans for the transition to complete warehouse heating.
UK Landscapes also introduced Green Back, an initiative to impart carbon reduction and community improvement. Through this program, the business takes its fleet emissions by planting trees and shrubs free of charge for customers, often as part of community revitalization projects that promote intellectual well -being and public health.
A particularly innovative green back initiative is the BEE Pole Project, a program on biodiversity in which customers work with British landscapes to install vertical habitats that support pollinators and a broader ecological community of invertebrates. These structures not only improve the ecological value of the landscapes, but also agree with wider environmental and corporate goals of social responsibility, which makes the natural positive results part of the service.
A modern business with a family heart
In his fourth year with Mercia, the British landscapes continue to rise and grow in nursing homes, housing associations, state institutions, petroleum facilities and even projects for defense sectors. The internal software is invaluable in these new sectors.
The British landscapes are highlighted by the combination of the consistency and the values of a family business with the innovation and scalability of a modern company. With a fully oriented management team, the company comprises changes, appreciates agility and is well positioned to strengthen partnerships in an increasingly unpredictable world.
We believe in simple but effective solutions that are underpinned by data that are driven by people and proudly delivered.
