Vineyard, Utah – October 16, 2025
Utah City is a groundbreaking 700-acre mixed-use development located on the eastern shore of Utah Lake in Utah County. A collaboration between The Flagship Companies Group and Woodbury Corporation, it brings together residential, commercial and institutional spaces, including a 20-acre Huntsman Cancer Institute campus, in a thoughtfully designed, walkable environment. Designed by renowned urban planner Jeff Speck and DPZ CoDesign, Utah City emphasizes timeless architecture, walkability, integrated public spaces and an active lifestyle, setting a new benchmark for large-scale developments in the region.

Vision and philosophy
According to Utah City Marketing Director Jacklyn Briggs, the community's ethos is to put people first. Briggs sat down with me TechBuzz recently and explained how the development will promote:
- Community engagement: By creating spaces where people naturally interact and share experiences.
- Entrepreneurial and creative energy: Small business, arts and cultural initiatives are encouraged in the neighborhood.
- Health, well-being and sustainable living: Of the Geothermal district energy system Among Peloton-operated fitness facilities, Utah City values a lifestyle that balances technology, sustainability and wellness.

Briggs described Utah City as a “laboratory for culture and innovation.” Walkability, outdoor areas and thoughtfully designed public areas promote both physical health and social cohesion.

Wellness Integration: Peloton Partnership
A defining feature of Utah City is its partnership with Peloton, making it the first Peloton-operated community in the United States
Key elements of the Peloton partnership include:
- Peloton Spaces in every residential building: Residents have access to private workout sessions and spacious gyms equipped with Peloton bikes, rowing machines and the new Tread+ Pro (available January 2026).
- AI-powered fitness: Peloton devices integrate AI features such as personalized training plans, performance tracking, and cross-training options.
- Community Wellness Programs: The UC Sweat series offers regular events such as Sunset Pilates and yoga and encourages active participation in fitness as a community activity. The first outdoor yoga class attracted over 200 participants.

Peloton's Greg Hybl emphasized that this collaboration sets a new standard for wellness in urban developments, integrating health as a core component of living rather than an afterthought.

Community and culture
Utah City's design emphasizes shared experiences and cultural engagement:
- Pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods and connected streets promote spontaneous social interaction.
- Public parks, hiking trails and wellness areas Integrate physical activity into everyday life.
- Arts, entrepreneurship and creative centers: The development promotes an environment for local businesses, small creatives and cultural events.
Briggs envisions Utah City as a living experiment in community building, combining social, cultural and wellness programs to create an environment where residents are both healthy and connected.

Sustainability and technology
- Geothermal district energy system: Provides energy-efficient heating and cooling for all buildings. TechBuzz will continue to follow the City of Utah's energy plans as they develop.
- Smart and connected home furnishings: Peloton's AI and advanced fitness technology complement broader sustainability and wellness initiatives.
- Future-oriented infrastructure: Emphasizes durability, energy efficiency, and integration with the natural environment, including Utah Lake and the Wasatch Mountains.

Utah City positions itself as an experiment in modern, holistic city living. By combining wellness, technology, sustainability and culture, the aim is to create a neighborhood in which residents can develop physically, socially and creatively. The partnership with Peloton and plans to integrate energy innovations that may have originated here in Utah underscore this vision, bringing world-class fitness right to the center of everyday life, while community events and walkable design foster connections that extend beyond individual health to impact overall social well-being.
