The newly presented Villa Thandawena sitting over the rough hills of Kwazulu-Natal, which means “Love You” in Zulu. The retreat with five bedrooms was designed as a flagship of the Royal Residences collection by Jumeirah Thanda Safari and comprises its surroundings with an architectural language.
Each of the five bedrooms is angled with precision to ensure privacy and at the same time orient the guests on uninterrupted views of the surrounding bushland. Vor-Historic Vulcanic Stein directly from the location anchores the design.
Life outdoors is seamlessly included in the design. An Infinity pool tiled in porcelain anosa mosaics drives seven meters above the hill. An insent whirlpool, a children's pool and a fireplace inspired by the Olympic torch, animated the terrace and creates sculptural assembly rooms that are as well as a form as function. The architecture extends beyond its physical structures to experiences that visitors have to place. Stargazing decks offer uninterrupted night sky, while yoga pavilions and a salt sauna wellness compensate for with wilderness. Eat surface in one of a curved deck and a fire-lit Boma tunes the rhythm of the Villa outside of the outdoor.
In the 16,500 hectare Jumeirah-Thanda-Safari, ownership is not only in the Big Five, but also for a stroke for conservation efforts, from rampant breeding programs to black-rhino protection. In this way, Villa Thandawena stands both as a sanctuary and steward: a place where architecture increases experience and at the same time promotes a deeper connection to the country.
