Wyoming Bill for the access of transgender to toilets is about to vote

A legislative template that would make it clear that people can only use toilets, changing rooms and similar areas that correspond to their gender at birth, in the Wyoming House of Representatives faces a third and crucial vote.

House Bill 72, known as the law on the privacy of women in public spaces, is sponsored by Rep. Martha Lawley [R-Big Horn, Washakie counties]. The aim of the invoice is to ban access to transgender to female toilets, changing rooms and correctional facilities.

The second reading was held on Thursday at the Wyoming House after it had previously won the approval of the House Education Commiuteee 9-0. It will most likely be exposed to a decisive third party on Friday, although it is possible that the vote can be rejected.

If the approval of the house was obtained, the draft law to the Senate would continue to go for further examination.

Rep. Lawley: We have to make women feel safe and respected

In an operating E-ET on the bill a few weeks ago, Rep. Lawley '' ''This calculation ensures that women and girls can feel safe and respected in places where privacy is essential – in bathing, changing rooms, showers and correctional facilities. ''

Lawley said the problem was one of which she often heard during her election campaign of 2024.

'' 'Like earlier efforts to exclude people with color, people with disabilities and others from common rooms, these arguments for privacy only fear the difference. Erying the fundamental rights of the transgender people is dangerous for each of us. ''

The legislation is one of several Wyoming Lawmajers at this session, which deals with access to toilets and changing rooms as well as participation in women's sports.
